I'm nearly finished with my Nybble, but have run into problems uploading software to the board. Whenever I try, I see the following error:
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 10 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x65
An error occurred while uploading the sketch
When I check the serial monitor, Writeinstinct.ino is running, but I'm not able to send commands. It was working yesterday, but something in the chain is off. I'm using Mac OS and Nyboard 0_2. I've tried restarting, different USB ports, etc. Any advice is welcome!
I'm very happy to see it moving! The last dropped worried me though.
Just to close this out: I ordered the Adafruit FTDI friend and connected with no problems:
And now I have a happy Nybble!
You may find it on eBay or Aliexpress depending on your location.
The keyword is "ft232 uploader". It should be compatible with regular Arduino pro mini.
That’s generous of you, but unnecessary. Thanks for helping me troubleshoot.
If you can suggest a replacement, I’m happy to order it. I’ll let you know if it solves the problem!
If you can confirm that the 6-pin of the uploader is connected in the right order (DTR to DTR), then the heatting may indicate that it's burned last time. Where are you located? I guess the international shipping fee will be more expensive than the item. I can send you a free replacement of the uploader or reimburse your order in a local store/online store, whichever is cheaper.
Thank you so much Rongzhong – I know you're busy with Bittle!
When I restart with the uploader attached only to my Mac, I don't see it in the Arduino ports list. If I unplug it and reconnect, it appears in ports, but I get the same error message when I try to upload, and it gets hot. Perhaps I fried the uploader?
At one point I received a warning that the usb device was drawing too much power, so I've only connected with batteries attached and servos powered since then. Thanks for the advice.
So the whole connection worked last time? It's still a problem in between the USB serial port and the uploader. Did you notice any excessive heating on the uploader?
Try unplug the uploader from the NyBoard and only connect to your Mac, restart your Mac and check whether the corresponding serial port apear. You will also need to install the 14500 batteries before uploading future codes, otherwise the servos will pull large current from the USB connection.
