We finished cabling and now need a tutorial on what happens next. Do we go right into programming? If so, where are the tutorials for that? I'm building the cat with my son are we're both n00bs.
Hi Martin (& Son). I also am a ttotal newbie at this stuff and just got my Nybble basically assembled and working, (seems like a miracle!) and now I too want to get into programming to be able to create new skills, modify existing ones, link some skills together into a little routine etc. Like yourself, I would have greatly appreaciated a programming tutorial for newbies on this forum specific to the Nybble but there isn't one. The good news, though, is that the Nybble is Arduino based, and there are lots of good Arduino tutorials out there including on youtube. I just started with a series by this guy who seems to be pretty good and even bought a cheap Arduino kit that he recommends to follow along the tutorials with:
You also mentioned some concerns about how to use the software, as differentiated from programming the software, and that is described in some detail in the Nybble assembly doc that you are familiar with, as well as a great new video:
Hope this helps a bit. Set
I saw that, but it goes right from cabling to calibration. Nothing about software to use and how to use that software. Did I miss something?
By the way, I really do appreciate all your effort on the project and your responses to my posts. When I got this via Kickstarter, it seemed to be for people who aren't professional coders, so I got it for my son and me to do together. Neither of us are very good with coding, so we hope there's an answer we can handle.
You need to download the Arduino IDE from arduino.cc/en/Main/Software. There are many tutorials such as arduino.cc/en/Guide/HomePage. Then you can read the section configuration in our docs.petoi.com.
The project was originated from the maker community who are familiar with Arduino and coding. It can still be challenging for people with previous experiences. I wish I could walk you through the process and maybe you can help in writing a tutorial for newbies.
Have you checked docs.petoi.com?
Nothing on that page except a reference to the forum. I searched the forum for how to get started with coding and couldn't find anything basic. It's all very advanced.
@Martin Lind There're more contents on that page. Check the table of contents on the left.
