i followed the instructions to upload OpenCat (the latest version from github), everything went as expected
now the bittle doesnt seem to boot. turning the battery on turns the blue and yellow lights on the board but nothing else happens. it makes no sounds and none of the servos move.
it doesn not respond to the IR controller
it does nothing after connecting it to the desctop app, calibration, stand etc does nothing.
have i bricked it?
how do i fix it?
I got it!
My Bittle is alife again^^
I borrowed a "USBasp + ISP-Adapter" from a friend (you get this one or similar devices cheep everywhere in the internet) and burned a new bootloader with this instruction:
(The same instructions don't work for me with an Arduino Uno programmed as an ISP)
Hope you get your bittle also alife soon!
Thank you Jason for your attention and help!
I burned the bootloader and uploaded a fresh version of OpenCat right after.
The OpenCat Upload was step by step done with this instruction (in my case, including all the calibration processes via the serial monitor:
The upper device you mentioned is exactly mine.
You will also need 6 jumper cables to connect the female ISP adapter from the USBasp with the ISP Port on the NyBoard (like you see in the Bootloader instruction, the ISP Port on the NyBoard don't have pins)
Have a nice weekend
The lower one is a cheaper option and doesn't require extra wiring.
ok thank you. i have ordered the lower one because it will be delivered quicker.
hopefully this brings the bittle back to life and i can get on with creating a mind of its own for it
Hi, make sure you have dialed the slide switch on the bottom side of the NyBoard to Arduino, then redo the uploading prompts.
Hello. thank you.
yes the switch is set to arduino.
i just replied to your email but i will put the info here too
screen shots of the upload attempt
a video of switching the bittle on
Before uploading, please make sure:
For more details, please refer to:
Thank you for the reply.
The I2C Switch, in my case, is at the "Arduino" position.
The error messages seem like there is absolutely no connection between my ISP and the NyBoard, I think?
Shall we have google meeting ?
I'm very happy to hear this offer!
Thank you lot for that.
I'm at work this moment, could get back to my bittle in maybe 3 hours.
Don't know if this is possible for you with the time shift.
Otherwise, I have off in the next two days (weekend) and I could whenever you have time :)
I have exactly the same problem!
My Mac get´s a connection via USB to the NyBoard but absolutly no sign of life from bittle.
I can´t upload the OpenCat skratch via Arduino IDE in this state, only get this failure 10 times:
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0xcd
I tried to burn a new bootloader with an arduino uno as ISP, does not work for me.
I only get a lot of failure messages likes these, after clicking "Tools -> Burn Bootloader":
avrdude: stk500_getparm(): (a) protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x14
avrdude: stk500_getparm(): (a) protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x02
avrdude: stk500_getparm(): (a) protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x10
avrdude: stk500_initialize(): (b) protocol error, expect=0x10, resp=0x01
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Would also love to hear some tips or hints, searching the web for hours^^
if i try to upload opencat again i get the 'programmer is not responding' error too
How do you upload the OpenCat.ino, please follow the instructions from Step 1~10:
thank you for the reply
yes these are the instructions i followed. seems i am not the only one this happened to
is there a bug in the opencat code?
I am having trouble with step 8. No option to calibrate the IMU shows up in the serial monitor? Not sure what I am doing wrong
