Would this be required for all the pins of the ultrasonic sensor?

For connecting the sensor to the RPi, can VCC, Trig and Echo be connected to the GPIO Pins on the RPi? Guides on the HC-SR04 sensor all seem to connect VCC to a 5V pin (both of which are occupied by the 2x5 socket connecting the Nyboard to the RPi). P.S. Thanks for entertaining my potentially silly questions, I'm new to working with electronic components~

Another quick question - are you supposed to solder the 4 pins for the ultrasonic sensor on the same side as the 2x5 socket, or on the opposite side? Seems like both positions are slightly awkward once the RPi is mounted on top of the Nyboard Also would you have examples for how to manage the cables running from the ultrasonic sensor/head to the board?
